Michael S. Cook – Principal, Healthcare & Education
Mr. Cook serves as our primary point of contact for the public and private sector health care initiatives, oversees our primary vendor relationships with manufacturers of fire alarm and life safety products and serves as the licensee-in-charge for ESSCOE. He is an Illinois Licensed Private Alarm Contractor and responsible for the integrity and quality of our work in the field. In addition to his alarm contractor’s license, Mr. Cook holds a degree in Electronic Systems Technology.
Mr. Cook’s past work experiences and responsibilities have included serving as a NICET certified Fire Alarm Installation technician, experience with programming and installing programmable logic controllers for industrial, nuclear and munitions plants, as well as a top-five ranked sales representative for an international manufacturer of fire alarm system equipment. Through these experiences, he earned the role of trusted advisor to the Architecture and Engineering communities within the Midwest for the proper specification and engineering application of fire alarm systems technology.
Todd M. Keppy – Principal, Military & Industrial
Mr. Keppy serves as our primary point of contact for the military and industrial client initiatives, oversees our primary consulting and teaming relationships with Acoustical and Fire Protection Engineering firms locally in the Great Lakes/Midwest Region. He is an Illinois Licensed Private Alarm Contractor. In addition to his alarm contractor’s license, Mr. Keppy holds a degree in Electronic Systems Technology and certification in Fire Alarm Systems Design from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
His past work experiences have progressed rapidly from serving as a field installation technician of fire alarm and security systems, a Project Engineer for a large manufacturer of fire alarm equipment, progressed to a top producing sales representative for that firm, and ultimately to creating and shaping ESSCOE around the goal of responding to the new and challenging requirement for installation of Mass Notification Systems promulgated by the initial draft of the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) issued by the DOD. Mr. Keppy is a trusted advisor to the NAVFAC Fire Protection Engineering community having hosted educational seminars on Acoustical Modeling and Intelligibility for NAVFAC fire protection engineers from around the globe.
R. Scott Bartmess, P.E., C.F.P.S. – Principal, Federal Services
Mr. Bartmess serves as our primary point of contact for the federal business development initiatives nationwide, principal-in-charge of our engineering services group and is responsible for leadership of our continuing education and professional development growth. He is an NCEES Accredited Professional Engineer, with reciprocity credentials in all 50 States, Territories and several countries internationally. He has passed the NCEES examination for Principles and Practice of Engineering in both the Fire Protection Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Disciplines and has been designated a Certified Fire Protection Specialist by the NFPA.
Mr. Bartmess’s past work experiences and responsibilities have included fire sprinkler design on some of the first large scale retail warehouse/atriums to utilize ESFR sprinkler technology, some of the first sprinkler systems to be installed in Illinois public schools under the modern building codes and some of the first Mass Notification systems to be installed under the Unified Facilities Criteria. These experiences translated well in to his pioneering the first use of 3-D computer-aided fire alarm engineering software specifically for the calculation of voltage drop, line loss and power calculations of alarm and mass notification systems as they are drawn in Building Information Models.
