Fire Alarm Inspector

Individual applies knowledge of the National Fire Protection Association’s Standard for the Installation of Fire Alarm Systems (NFPA 72) requirements for testing and inspecting a commercial fire alarm system in various types of commercial and institutional facilities. Familiarity with electronics, software, low voltage wiring, troubleshooting, and overall building construction is helpful. The individual will interact with a variety of clients in a high pressure challenging atmosphere. Individual must apply methodical and detailed record keeping and documentation as needed to provide consistent, repeatable efforts that meet expectations of company and customer. Ability to obtain N.I.C.E.T. certification levels in Fire Alarm Systems Design is mandatory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Individual must have a basic to intermediate level of understanding of electronics and computer software, and hand held PDA devices.
  • Individual must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently without immediate supervision.
  • Travel within the Chicago-Metro area.
  • Individual must be able to adjust work schedule to meet the demands of customer deadlines that are often changing or adapting to the operating environment of a customer’s facility.
  • Attainment of N.I.C.E.T. certification levels in Fire Alarm Systems Design
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
